Rusty Bull Brewing Company

Rusty Bull Brewing Co. is a production brewery and restaurant in North Charleston, near Park Circle. Founders Brian Bogstad, a mechanic, and Ben Mayer, a preacher, started homebrewing in 2013, later turning Brian’s garage into a homebrew production space before opening the brewery in 2017. The name honors two key figures in their lives: Brian’s wife’s uncle, Dave “Bull” Bullard, and Ben’s late father, Russ “Rusty” Mayer, whose inheritance paid for the first pilot system. Rusty Bull has since acquired Southern Barrel Brewing Co. in Bluffton to expand production. The beer list has included a Euro-style lager and a Kölsch to hazy IPAs, a maibock, a porter, a triple-hopped double IPA and a blonde ale brewed for the Charleston RiverDogs, with cans, crowlers and growlers to go. The kitchen serves burgers, wings, vegetarian options and Saturday brunch,, and the property has outdoor patios, axe throwing and space for private parties.
