Shellring Ale Works

Shellring Ale Works is a brewery and taproom in Port Royal, set near the 11th Street docks. Its name refers to the shell rings that Native Americans built on the coasts of the Southeast as long as 5,000 years ago, circular mounds of oyster, clam and mussel shells left from communal feasts and gatherings, and the brewery aims to be a similar meeting place. Four core beers are always on tap: an amber lager, a hazy IPA, an ultra session ale and Jelly, a fruited sour made with the house Lactobacillus culture whose fruit changes through the year. Rotating IPAs and seasonal beers, including a lager made with local oysters, fill out the list, along with spirits-based seltzers. RevolveR, the resident food truck, serves street-style food from an evolving menu. Outside, the beer garden has fire pits, cornhole and live music.
