Indigo Reef Brewing Company

Indigo Reef Brewing Company is a small, owner-run brewery in Charleston that opened in June 2019 on a seven-barrel brewhouse. Owners Christopher and Nicole Ranere started homebrewing in Madison, Wisconsin, in 2014 and kept at it after moving to Charleston. The name blends their interests: indigo, once a Lowcountry cash crop, plus scuba diving and brewing, and the seahorse logo with a barley tail carries the theme. Diving also drives a strong sustainability focus. Spent grain goes to a goat farmer, yeast is reused between batches, brewing water is recaptured, and the tap wall was built from reclaimed Ohio barn wood. The beers aim to be approachable, and staff help newcomers find a fit. The taproom has a big bar and communal tables, an on-site Mexican kitchen supplies food, leashed dogs are welcome in the courtyard, and supervised kids are allowed.
