Low Tide Brewing

Low Tide Brewing is a draft-focused brewery on Johns Island, opened in March 2016 by Mike Fielding, who had long wanted to start a brewery. The name came out of a 2012 kayak trip around the island, and the brewery ties its beer to coastal Lowcountry life and the natural world, with a stated commitment to community involvement and caring for the land. Only specialty beers and an Ocean Course Ale made for Kiawah Island Resort are canned, and crowlers, growlers and sixtel kegs are sold to go. There is no kitchen, but food trucks are scheduled daily. Children are welcome with close supervision, while dogs other than service animals are not allowed. Weekly bingo is a fixture, and the brewery has hosted goat races and indoor putt-putt. Large parties can reserve space, although the taproom itself is not rented for private events.
