Keowee Brewing Company

Keowee Brewing Company is a family-run brewery in Seneca, founded by Alex and Allison, who met at Dorman High School in Spartanburg and later both attended Clemson University. After Allison took a dairy industry job in Wisconsin, Alex followed, kept homebrewing and joined 3 Sheeps Brewing in Sheboygan, working his way up from keg washer to head brewer. The death of his grandfather Robert, known as Papa Bob, convinced the couple to return to South Carolina. They bought their Seneca building on October 31, 2017, and the brewery opened in June 2019, about a year after the birth of their son Liam Robert, named in part for Papa Bob. Allison’s younger brother David manages the bar. Beer is brewed on site, with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available, and a kitchen serves food; outside food and drinks are not permitted.
