Carolina Bauernhaus Brewery

Carolina Bauernhaus Brewery & Winery is a farmhouse-style brewery and winery based in Anderson, with its taproom in the downtown area and a separate brewery and beer garden in Greenville. Its ales, ciders and meads are built around the farm resources of the Upstate, using malt, grain, yeast and hops sourced in the region. Brewing methods borrow from Belgian tradition, but the brewery does not feel bound by it, and the range runs from easy-drinking saisons to complex barrel-aged sours. Founder and head brewer Keston had more than a decade of homebrewing behind him, including several years focused on wild and sour ales, before opening the brewery, and recipe experimentation with wild, funky beers remains its signature. Team member David Thornton brings a bioprocess engineering background from the biofuels industry and brewery design. For drinkers who enjoy mixed-fermentation and sour beers, the Anderson taproom offers a focused, regionally rooted lineup.
